Mohammad Ali Jinnah University has all the facilities necessary to make your university experience both enjoyable and rewarding. 

 

The Campus

 

MAJU is located in PECHS Block VI, the heart of Karachi, off Sharah-e-Faisal where public transport is available round the clock.

 

Computer Lab

 

The on campus computer laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art computing and communication devices including Core 2 duo Ci3 based computers. There are around 300 workstations along with Xeon based Servers on a fast Ethernet (100/1000 mbps) for smooth and reliable client/server computing.

 

The operating system layer is on Linux (Red Hat 8 and UBUNTU), Windows Xp and Windows 7 based clients, Windows 2008 Enterprise and Linux (Fedora 8) Based Servers. The students have access to the Internet Service with a couple of high-speed Metro (Fiber Optic) and DSL (Digital Subscriber Link).

 

All three campuses have WiFi enabled accessibility. Students not only can access internet wirelessly but also have access to local resources (printers, storage, online system of registration and email) from anywhere with in three campuses.

 

 

Research Lab

 

The university has a special research lab equipped with high speed LaserJet printers, scanners and fast internet facilities. The lab also provides access to HEC digital library for carrying out BS projects and MS theses.

 

 

Main Computer Lab

 

University has a large computer lab equipped with Core 2 duo, Ci3 and Ci5 based workstations linked with Fast Ethernet local area network (LAN) environment. This network contains multi platform (Linux, Windows) clients, servers, with high-speed LaserJet network printers, scanners and DVD writers.

 

Network Lab

 

Network lab is equipped with contemporary internet worked processors, routers and switches. It is specially designed to provide hands–on–training on the network equipment, routers, and manageable switches.

 

Electronic and Hardware Lab

 

The hardware laboratory is equipped with 30 Mhz dual channel oscilloscopes, sweep function generators, logic probes and pulsars, power supplies, digital multimeter and digital Trainers. Its also has Pentium Dual core 2.4 Ghz PC’s and Ci3 processors with 18-21 inch screens and multimedia projectors for design and simulation of the electronic circuit.   

 

Telecommunication Laboratory

 

Existing Telecommunication Lab has been highly upgraded by importing advanced training equipments worth millions of rupees to provide hand-on training and to have experience on the latest technology like GSM, GPS, Microwave, Optical Communication, Satellite, and Antennas for cellular to radar systems.

 

Classrooms

 

All classrooms are fully air-conditioned and are equipped with the latest audio-visual aids, which enable the faculty members to use the latest techniques in delivering lectures and facilitate students’ understanding of the material through charts, displays, multimedia and overhead projectors.

 

Prayer Area

 

Proper arrangements have been made to accommodate more than 100 people for prayer and a dedicated area for ablution with the capacity of 33 persons at a time.

 

Sports Facilities

 

Equipment for cricket, football, badminton and table tennis is provided to our students for sports activities on campus.

 

Social Activities

 

Social Calendar, comprising about 50 events, is prepared at the beginning of each semester to provide students opportunities for enhancement of their soft skills.   

 

Parking Area

 

MAJU has a parking area that can accommodate 300 cars as well as 350 plus motor cycles for students, staff and visitors.

 

Library

 

Mohammad Ali Jinnah University has a ever growing library. The library started with a modest collection and has added volumes to its collection. The library subscribes to several scholarly national as well as international journals and periodicals in various disciplines, particularly in Business, Computer Science and telecommunication. Currently there are over 5,000 volumes related to all fields of study.  The Library Staff is always on duty for the assistance of students.

 

Hours of Operation:    Monday – Saturday:       8:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

                                   Sunday:                           10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

Auditoria

 

University campus has two well furnished and spacious auditoria that are equipped with the latest multi-media equipment. They are designed and used for seminars, lectures, examinations as well as for social and cultural events for the entertainment and cultural enrichment of the university community.

 

Cafeteria

 

University provides a place where students can get together to grab a cup of tea or coffee, or a quick lunch during the day. Cold drinks, snacks, lunch, and high tea are available. The Cafeteria is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of our students.

 

Stand by Generators

 

MAJU has its own power generation for its three campuses. This is to avoid any electricity failure or fluctuations, removing any hindrance in class rooms, labs or office activity.

 

Photocopier Facility

 

The campus has three in-house photocopiers at Xerox document centre, for students and faculty, to photo copy documents at reasonable rates.

 

Recommended Books Facility

 

At the beginning of each semester, MAJU provides recommended books for each course.
