The BS Biosciences program provides strong academic foundation to students of experimental biology. It is focused on training students with modern biotechnological skills which boost their potential to pursue careers in the local and international market, academia and research enterprises. The curriculum is designed to meet the current demand of qualified human resource in biotechnology sector. This program fulfils the academic standards set by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan. The department is equipped with modern facility for conducting academic and research experiments related to molecular biology, biochemistry, clinical and applied microbiology, genetic engineering, gene editing, DNA analysis, plant tissue culture etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

1: For students pursuing admission after Higher Secondary Education (HSE):

  1. Minimum 45% marks in HSE (Pre-medical or Pre-engineering) or equivalent qualifications: 30%
  2. MAJU Admission Test or HEC admission test: 50%
  3. Interview: 20%

2: For students pursing admission after B.Sc. (14 years of education):

  1. Minimum 45% marks in B.Sc. (with Biology subjects) or Equivalent qualification.
  2. Student with B.Sc. degree will be provided admission in BS Biosciences (3rd year). However, each student would have to attempt deficiency courses (from Semester I to IV) which will be decided by the admission committee.

Program Duration

This is a four year degree program of 8 semesters with minimum of 134 semester credit hours (Cr. Hrs). There will be a Fall and a Spring semester in each year. The maximum duration to complete BS is seven years.

Final Year Research Projects

Students will be offered to enrol for research project in the final semester. The selection criteria shall be based on merit and overall performance throughout the academic program.

Degree Requirements

  1. Completion of coursework.
  2. Obtaining a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on scale of 4.0
  3. Completion of the internship.

YES! Students from Pre-engineering can pursue admission at MAJU Biosciences program. Moreover, their deficiencies in biology shall be taken care in form of deficiency courses specially designed to cater their concepts in biology.

How can we compete with job market which already has a load of MBAs, Pharm D. and other management cum science subjects?

A degree in biosciences can teach you skills that will help you stand out in an increasingly competitive job market and propel you to academic and professional success. You’ll already have strong research and presentation skills, as well as the ability to effectively collect and analyse data. Are there financial aid options for students? I have good grades but can’t afford the fee.

YES! We have a clear policy that NO STUDENT GETS ADMISSION DENIAL ON GROUNDS OF FINANCIAL CONSTRAINTS.

If you have 80% or above in HSE, you will be automatically eligible for 100% fee waiver. If you have 75-79% in HEC, you shall get 75% fee waiver. Moreover, we also have Academic performance based scholarships as well. As a student achieves good grades during his/her semester exams, then according to university policy, the student can get scholarships. Further details can be taken from student financial aid office and concerned committee.
