Minister for education and literacy Sindh, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that it is mistaken to believe universities as places supposed to only provide Human Resources to the industry and government organization. This approach makes the students to pass out as job seekers. These views he expressed while addressing to the 6th Convocation of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi as chief guest held at PAF Convention centre last evening. Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said that essentially, universities are supposed to provide to the students an environment where they can become great contributor towards the society, thus becoming job creators, whichever entrepreneurship the brave student choose. He hoped that many courageous students here must be thinking about starting up a proper business. Sindh education minister expressed his satisfaction that Muhammad Ali Jinnah University has provided the future generation with a valued opportunity to gain professional skills and specialized capabilities. These are the dynamic characteristics, which means that you all need to continuously polish your professional skills and gain further capabilities, he added. Addressing to the convocation Jam Mehtab Hussin expressed this hope that M.A. Jinnah University will continue to serve the people and their land and it will further develop into an incomparable university.

President Prof. Dr. Zubair A. Shaikh in his welcoming address, said that Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), Karachi, is the higher educational flower in the giant bouquet of Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC); a bouquet which holds Capital University of Science and Technology, University of Central Punjab, PGC Colleges and Allied Schools. MAJU came into existence in 1998 and from the initial years has become a known name in higher education.

He also added that to achieve the pinnacle of the higher studies, MAJU is continuously working on different aspects of the academic excellence. He said that we have till now done everything possible to align ourselves with the recognized standards of the Higher Education Commission. He said we are also conforming to the Pakistan Engineering Council standards and regulations. He emphasized that we are aiming for a full-fledged launch of our Engineering program along with the program of Media Sciences. He told that we are in the phase of transformation of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi.

He said, remember that learning and development do not end anywhere, even when someone becomes an MBA, MS or a Ph.D. Learning is a lifelong process, and the fruits are reaped even after the life we now know. And that higher educational qualification is of zero value if it minuses love for all human beings and love for God’s creations which are below us, like animals, plants and minerals. Being educated must always be synonymous to being a good human being, to be disciplined as well as being tolerant.

Let us all thank Almighty Allah for bestowing upon us the inestimable growth in many directions. I wish and pray for the continuation in the growth of this prominent university.
