The Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi is pleased to organize Mini-Symposium on 30th November, 2017 at Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi from 10:00 am to 04:00 p.m. This event is regarding the world diabetes day, focused on Living with Diabetes and identification systems for diagnosis, prognostication and individualization of specific therapy, Professor Dr. Zaman Sheikh, Head of Medicine Department, Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences and Director at Sir Syed Institute of Diabetes &; Endocrinology, Karachi, will be the keynote speaker and the feature speakers will be from International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed Khan and Prof. Dr. Kamran Azim from Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi.

We welcome all to get registered in this event which will provide a platform to understand molecular marker based identification techniques that are extremely reliable methodologies currently used in research and diagnostic institutes. DNA sequencing (including Sanger sequencing & Next Generation sequencing) unveil medical information embedded in individual genomes and exomes, which could be incorporated into the practice of medicine for diagnostic and therapeutic gains. Another molecular based tool is the Rapid Microbial identification system which help in detection and characterization of microorganisms and deals with environmental monitoring, contamination investigation and root cause analysis.
