Prof. Engr. Dr. Zubair Ahmed Shaikh is a recognized and innovative professional with over 20 years of experience as a Senior Administrator, Academician, Researcher, and IT / IS consultant for large scale complex business problems, particularly related to E-Governance, Educational Planning, IT and Technical & Vocational Education.

He is a Ph.D & MS (Computer Sc., New York, USA), B.Engg in Computer Systems Engineering with over 15 years of experience as an IT consultant for Wall Street and other National & International organizations. Design, planning and management of IT institutions, and offshore software development organizations. R&D expertise in the areas of Ubiquitous Computing, Multimedia & Graphics, Knowledge Management, Mobile & Adhoc Networks, and E-Health, E-Education and Learning and Teaching theories.

He has been a faculty member at Wayne State University, Michigan and worked in Software Industry in USA.  In Pakistan he joined GIK Institute (1996-98), as a founding Dean of Faculty of Computing and Management Sciences at Isra University (1998-99). He then formed and led Karachi Institute of Information Technology (1999-2003).

Dr. Shaikh served FAST National University Karachi Campus from 2003 till 2011 as a Dean Faculty of Computing and Director Karachi Campus. He then served briefly as the founding Dean and Registrar to establish DHA Suffa University and later as an Executive Director Sindh Teacher Education Development Authority from 2011-2014. He rejoined back FAST National University as the Dean Faculty of Computing and Director Karachi Campus and served till January 2016. He joined as the President of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi on February 1, 2016.

In addition he is an HEC approved Ph.D Supervisor in Computer Science and has produced 9 Ph.Ds. He is author of over 50 research papers in ISI Index Journals and International Conferences. He has worked on R & D consultancy Projects of CIDA, EU, World Bank, USAID and ICT R&D funds.  He has led an organization dealing with Teacher Education comprising of over 150,000 teachers, and developed several policy and strategic documents on Educational reforms with and without technology. He has also served as member National Computing Education Accreditation Council. He is also member of various National and International Professional Organizations and member of higher statutory bodies of various Universities.
